It's been an exciting season so far, with reigning champion Valentino Rossi already well aware that he has a real fight on his hands to retain his title. Last year, the Italian claimed his first win on this circuit, edging a thrilling duel with Casey Stoner, with the lead constantly changing hands in the opening laps before a mistake from the American allowed Rossi to pull away.
