84 Charing Cross Road

Romantic drama based on the true story of a love affair by letters between an outspoken New York writer and the owner of a dusty bookshop on London's Charing Cross Road.

In 1949, writer Helene Hanff, despairing of locating some obscure classics and English literature in her native New York, notices an advertisement in the Saturday Review of Literature, placed by antiquarian booksellers Marks and Co of 84 Charing Cross Road London. Thus begins a long-distance friendship evolving over time with the shop's manager Frank Doel and his staff and family.
