The final programme in the series charts the settlement of the vast Canadian prairies and the establishment of Gaelic colonies far out on the grasslands. Under the pressure of economic depression, famine and overpopulation, Gaels began to spread out across the Canadian interior from established pockets in Quebec and Ontario.
Donald Morrison travels from the Quebec/Maine border to the western city of Edmonton, discovering Gaelic communities right across the expanse of the continent. He ends his journey at the tiny Albertan town of Clandonald, founded in the 1920s - the final example of Highland community emigration to the New World.
