The circuit in Jerez will be familiar to those taking part because it is used extensively in the teams' pre-season testing and is often described as a real rider's track as it requires both smoothness and aggression.
Reigning champion Valentino Rossi has a great record at Jerez and is looking for his sixth premier class victory at the circuit.
