Now that Gaz and Donna are divorced, Gaz decides the time has come to propose to Janet. Scared that she is losing all her friends, in particular Gaz, Donna insists on helping him organise the proposal, much to the disapproval of Tim who worries she's holding onto the past and not moving on. Gaz and Donna enjoy spending time together, possibly too much, and it conjures up old feelings.

Wesley gives Janet a job on the market stall and teaches her the trade, but she struggles as she suffers increasingly from a stomach ache. When the pain gets so bad and she is rushed to hospital, she asks Wesley to phone Gaz, but he is nowhere to be found.
