In Northern Ireland there is mounting concern over dissident conflict. In recent months dissident Republicans have stepped up their campaign of violence, and squabbles between Unionist and Republican political leaders have stymied self-rule.
For six years the chief constable of Northern Ireland's much-reformed police service has held one of the highest-pressure policing jobs in the world. Stephen Sackur asks if his record stands up to scrutiny.
