My Zinc Bed

Adapted by David Hare from his acclaimed stage play, My Zinc Bed explores addiction in its many guises - addiction to alcohol, love and the need to control.

An exceptional cast of Uma Thurman, Jonathan Pryce and Paddy Considine star in David Hare's adaptation of his acclaimed stage play My Zinc Bed, a compelling one-off drama from the BBC and HBO Films. It explores the nature of addiction - whether to drink, to relationships, or to business.

Thus we see a poet and recovering alcoholic, Paul Peplow (Paddy Considine), hired by millionaire Victor Quinn (Jonathan Pryce) as a copywriter for his very successful business. Quinn has a young Danish wife, Elsa (Uma Thurmann), who has also been rescued from an abyss of drugs. He lures the poet back into alcoholic degradation to solace his lonely wife and relieve his stagnant marriage.
