BBC Proms 2008

From the Royal Albert Hall, London. Presented by Rob Cowan.

Edward Gardner conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with the first half of the Prom inspired by the sun and nature - Sibelius's Night Ride and Sunrise is followed by two world premieres: Michael Berkeley's Slow Dawn on the rising of the sun and Stuart McRae's Gaudete, a 'life narrative' based on the epilogue from a collection of poems by Ted Hughes and sung by Susanna Andersson. A perennial favourite by Elgar concludes the programme.
