Film noir. A screenwriter (Humphrey Bogart) persuades his lover to provide him with an alibi in a murder case, but later gives her reason to suspect he may actually be the killer.

Classic film noir about a cynical, hard-living, hard-drinking Hollywood screenwriter who falls for his young film star neighbour. When he becomes a suspect in a murder case, he asks her to provide him with an alibi. However, after witnessing his violent temper, the starlet begins to feel that she may be in love with a killer.
