Libby Potter examines bank penalty charges. Banks repaid claimants 400 million pounds in the first six months of 2007 alone.

Business series. In the second part of its high street banks special, the Money Programme returns to the controversial subject of bank penalty charges. Tens of thousands of customers have claimed and banks have paid back around 400 million pounds in the first six months of this year alone. At the same time, they insist that their charges are perfectly legal. Libby Potter investigates the consequences on the banks, the courts and the claimants.
