Will drops in on Nic unannounced, and she is reluctant to let him in - she doesn't want him to know that her washing machine is broken. He has a look at it. She's been handwashing for a couple of weeks. Will can't fix it, but he has a mate who can. Nic can't afford it, but Will says he'll pay. Nic is reluctant, but he insists.

Phil takes Christine out shopping to Borchester, for a present for Peggy. He buys a nice new panama hat for the trip, and they have a chat over coffee at Jaxx. Christine reminds him how she helped him to meet Jill. Jill and Phil were made for each other - and she's just so happy she was there at the beginning.

Ruth, David and Phil work together to plant a stretch of the new hedge. They enjoy it. They wonder as they work how the cows are getting out - it's a mystery. Later, as they get the cows in for milking, David is texting someone, and drops his phone. The cows trample it into the mud.
