Mike tries to get back in the game.

Nervous Mike goes out for a date with Alison from his dance class. She tells him not to think of it as a date. Mike is still jittery, but she draws him out. It's clear that her own marriage was nothing like as solid as Mike and Betty's. Alison tells him that she doesn't feel ready for a new relationship yet herself - but she thinks Mike might be ready, and he should start to look in the papers - maybe even join an agency. Mike can't even begin to think about it. Alison says he won't know if it'll work until he's tried.

Alice confides in Debbie a little more about how difficult things are with Amy, and Debbie wonders what she's going to do about it. Alice doesn't want to spoil Debbie's visit, and says she'll sort it out and not to worry. There's an awkward parting between Debbie and Brian as she leaves for South Africa, and she is still uncomfortable with Ruairi. Adam takes her to the airport, and Debbie takes the opportunity to pass on what Alice has told her. She wonders if Adam might see his way to being a knight in shining armour?
