Debbie meets Home Farm's newest resident.

Ruth sees a photo on the front of the Westbury Courier. It's Don Culliford, the builder who they think dumped the yew on their land, with a mountain of manure in the gateway of his builder's yard. Ruth puts two and two together and tells David she knows that's what he and Kenton were doing the other night. David admits to getting an abusive phone call from Culliford, but he's not worried. He's not going to stand for him or anyone else treating the farm as a dumping ground.

An unsavoury guest books in to Grey Gables - he's called Mr Pettifer, and he has body odour and no manners.

Debbie comes home and meets Ruairi for the first time. She finds it difficult. She is very cool indeed with Brian, limiting their conversation to matters of work. Alice is thrilled to see her. Debbie lends her support to Alice for moving out of Home Farm, and tells her she did the right thing. However, she does pick up that Alice is unhappy at the Vicarage because of Amy. Debbie wonders why she didn't go to Lilian, or Adam? Alice says she was trying to be independent, just as Debbie is herself.
