Bert showcases his talents.

Brian goes to Loxley Barratt to see if Ruairi can attend the school in September. He's hopeful that a place might become available in the summer.

Jennifer tries to talk to Alice when she comes to see to Spearmint, but Alice remains cool with her. When Adam approaches, asking Alice how she's getting on at Grey Gables, her demeanour is noticeably warmer - leaving Adam embarrassed and Jennifer feeling wretched.

Ian comes to visit Jennifer. She's pleased to see a subdued Ruairi liven up around Ian, and is grateful for Ian's concern. Ian suggests to Adam that losing Alice has really pushed Jennifer to the edge. They should do all they can to try and help mend the situation, starting with inviting Alice over for supper on Friday.

As Nigel and Bert continue with work on the gazebo, Nigel asks Bert if he'd like to play the part of a bard at an event for some German guests. Delighted Bert heads home to write some well-meaning but inappropriate poems for the event - including one about the war. Nigel is mildly horrified - and tactfully suggests that a more inoffensive subject might be in order.
