Dark drama about a popular but vicious New York newspaper columnist who enlists the help of an unscrupulous press agent to break up his sister's romance with a jazz musician. The press agent, who will do anything to get newspaper coverage for his clients, enters into a sleazy alliance with the columnist, unaware that he is in danger of being double-crossed himself. With a jazz score by Elmer Bernstein.
