Martyn Wade - Goodnight to Flamboro'

The tragic short life of prolific composer William Baines, who died aged just 23. Stars Douglas Hodge and Anne Stallybrass.

A dramatised account of the First World War call-up and frontline experiences of William Baines, the composer and pianist born in November 1899, at Horbury near Wakefield. When he died aged 23 in 1922, after a long illness, he had written about 150 pieces, mostly for piano. He had an eye, and an ear, for the natural world. Compositions such as Twilight Woods, Paradise Gardens, Purple Heights and this one - Goodnight To Flamboro - capture the mood of the Yorkshire landscapes he loved.

Stars Douglas Hodge, Anne Stallybrass, David Calder and Ann Bell.
