The cricket team gets a run for its money.

It's Ambridge cricket team's first Village Cup match, against Paxley. and there are plenty of supporters organised by Shula and transported in a minibus by Kenton. Lynda talks to Sid about her plans for her bed and breakfast but he's only momentarily distracted from the cricket when she mentions it might create more trade for the Bull. Ambridge doesn't do well initially with David embarrassed when he's out for one. Things are touch and go until the last minute when Ambridge manages to pull it off. Lynda and Sid, caught up in the winning moment, hug each other, jumping up and down with glee. Delighted David comments 'people will talk!' - but they're through to the next round.

Brian takes a phone call from Siobhan's mum urging him to go to Dublin - it might be his last chance to see Siobhan. Jennifer's controlled as she says that he'll have to go then, won't he? Later she explains to Alice that Brian has more business in Dublin at short notice. Alice, busy with her revision, is fine about it as long as he and Jennifer are getting on all right. Later, things are awkward between Brian and Jennifer as he says goodbye and heads for the airport.
