Peggy finds out the awful truth.

Shula and Alistair meet Nigel in the Bull. As ever, Alistair's talking cricket but it's all quite light-hearted and Nigel believes Shula should support her husband through this critical time.

Brian's relieved to share his worries. Nigel points out the risk to the marriage but Brian's adamant it needn't come to that, if only Jennifer could compromise. Nigel's not so sure and in the end Brian admits there's nothing more he can do than wait for Jennifer to make her decision.

Peggy tells Jennifer that she's determined to get Jack to the cricket. Jennifer wishes she had more time to come and help but blames Alice's exams. Peggy points out Brian's dash to Dublin can't have helped, and presses Jennifer for more information. Eventually Jennifer admits he went to see Siobhan. Peggy's anger turns to shock when Jennifer explains the situation but Peggy urges Jennifer not to let Brian force his love child on her. Jennifer points out her dilemma: that Brian will take Ruairi with or without her. Peggy insists she mustn't give in to Brian. He's the one who cheated, so he's the one who should face the consequences.
