Comedy update of the Cyrano de Bergerac story about a long-nosed fire chief who falls in love with a beautiful astronomer. The chief is too ashamed of his appearance to make advances himself but is drawn in to assisting his rival, a dull but handsome visiting fireman, from behind the scenes as his chances of love are hampered by his lack of confidence.
