Resourceful young croupier Modesty Blaise goes head to head with a ruthless rogue out to rob the casino, but at the cost of recounting her troubling life story. The film is based upon the early years of the character Modesty Blaise, a former crime boss turned secret agent created by Peter O'Donnell for his classic comic strip. As such it is a violent 'prequel' to the adventuress's exploits chronicled by O'Donnell in the comic strip.
