Black Britons 2
Education for seven- to 11-year-olds. The history of black people in Britain, from the abolition of the slave trade to the end of World War II.
Aimed at a primary school audience (7- to 11-year-olds), this programme gives an introduction to the history of black people in Britain, from the abolition of the slave trade to the end of the Second World War.
The programme features a mixture of presenter links on location and drama sequences about real historical figures from the past. We meet a Victorian campaigner called Sarah Parker Remond, who came over to Britain to spread the word about slavery in America, John Archer, who was Britain's first black mayor, Walter Tull, who was a professional footballer and an officer in the First World War, and Noor Inayat Khan, a British Asian woman serving in the French Resistance during the Second World War. The presenter is Ortis from Children's BBC.
