Drama about the experiences of the young son of a Scottish family living in a Highland castle in the 1920s. The castle residents include his father - a slightly eccentric inventor - his mother, sister and matriarchal grandmother. One summer, the boy's uncle returns to the estate with his beautiful French fiancee, whose sophistication is to leave a lasting impression on both the boy and his father.
