Comedy set in the 17th century about a male actor of female roles whose world is thrown into turmoil when his female dresser usurps him as the star.

Comedy set in the 17th century. On the London stage only men are allowed to perform and Ned Kynaston, a male actor of female roles, is the main attraction. But when the King decrees that women will now be permitted to play themselves, Ned's world is thrown into turmoil. This turns to despair when his own dresser usurps him as the star. From a complex crucible of gender confusion, a tender and comic love affair is born.
