Wild River

Emotional drama in which a young government official has the task of persuading an old woman to leave her island home on the Tennessee River to make way for the building of a dam.

Emotional drama set in in 1930s Alabama. A young federal government official has the task of persuading a stubborn old woman to leave her island home on the Tennessee River to make way for the building of a dam. Encountering opposition from the local people, in particular a racist farmer who objects to the employment of local black labourers, the official finds his life further complicated when he falls for the elderly woman's granddaughter.
