Burma, 1942. A crack US army unit under the command of Brigadier General Frank Merrill captures a strategic village deep behind enemy lines. Exhausted by the jungle fighting, his men look forward to a period of rest. Then Merrill receives devastating new orders - his troops must march several hundred more miles to seize a rail yard at Shaduzup and then trek on to help the British at Myitkyina.
