A melodramatic tale of love, greed, infidelity and murder set against the backdrop of a carnival in Germany.
A young female pickpocket becomes romantically involved with a circus barker before transferring her allegiances to a high diver - one of the show's star acts. But she doesn't reckon with the ruthlessness of the barker, a seedy Casanova who has murder in mind and still exercises a hold over her.
