Powell and Pressburger's emotionally charged drama about a group of nuns at a Himalayan outpost who try to maintain a school and hospital despite formidable odds and the emergence of deeply repressed passions. Cinematographer Jack Cardiff and art director Alfred Junge won Academy Awards.
