An impoverished man (Norman Wisdom) makes an unlikely bet to raise money to buy a gift for his secret love. As his fortune turns, a series of slapstick misunderstandings ensues.
An impoverished jeweller's assistant places an unlikely bet in an effort to raise the funds to buy the perfect gift for his secret love. If a famous jockey finishes first in all his races at Goodwood, he will win a fortune. But when the first three races go according to plan, the young man faints and a series of slapstick misunderstandings ensues.
