Bert gets some local knowledge.

Bert is off to Lower Loxley to see if he qualifies as a room steward or guide. He's to be a marshal for the coming fundraising race as well. He gives his spiel to Nigel, who is impressed with the work he has put in but gives him some literature to take away, as Bert's talk was less about the house itself than about historical anecdotes about the whole area. He tells Bert they will try him out as a room steward, in the hall.

Jennifer finally talks to Brian - and asks him when he has been seeing Ruairi. Was it when he went to Hungary? A throwaway comment from Siobhan made her realise that he has been lying to her as well. Brian is forced to admit that he has been to see Ruairi every time he went abroad to see Debbie. He tries to explain his feelings for his son, but Jennifer is not interested. He pleads with her - didn't she feel for Siobhan at all? Of course she did, says Jennifer, but she will not be made to feel guilty. Brian begs her to reconsider. Jennifer tells him to leave her alone.
