Tom and Brenda pay the price of excess.

Tom and Brenda are suffering from terrible hangovers after their housewarming party. Brenda bemoans having to start her university project on marketing and asks Tom for help. She's using his business as a case study but neither of them can muster the enthusiasm to start working.

At Bridge Farm, Helen and Oliver try the cheeses made from Oliver's Guernsey milk. Two are disappointing but the others have potential, so Helen and Oliver decide to make and mature a proper hard cheese.

Clarrie upsets Eddie when she suggests he might be cheating on his Lent promise. Eddie acts hurt, and accuses Clarrie of not trusting him when he's worked hard to stay off the booze. Adopting a martyred expression, he vows to spend the evening in the pub drinking soft drinks, so she can keep an eye on him. Later, Eddie gets a letter from the Westbury Courier, telling him that (as part of the contest, and to encourage tourism) he has to do a 'cry' in Italian. Eddie is unconvinced but Clarrie encourages him to give it a go.
