Ed insists on sticking to his roots.

Nigel is determined to stick to his resolve and is riding his bike as much as he can. Elizabeth is supporting him as best she can, but she does wonder if it will all turn out to be impractical.

David tells Ruth he is thinking of replacing a hedge - one that was taken out by Phil in years gone by. Ruth is a bit fed up about it until David makes it clear that he is thinking of it as a long term project that they can do together.

Mike is furious with Ed for continuing to feed swedes to the cows. Ed tells him he is sure he has controlled the taint in the milk. Mike complains to Oliver, who promises to take him seriously and tackle Ed about it.
