Letters To Father Christmas

Carole Boyd explores the tradition of writing letters to Father Christmas, featuring some by Dickens and Tolkien. From 2001.

JRR Tolkien immortalised Christmas letters in Letters from Father Christmas.

Charles Dickens penned a letter to Santa in 1843 telling him about his new work, A Christmas Carol.

Carole Boyd takes us from the beautifully penned sentiments of great writers to some of the most original examples of children's letters and explores the origins and continuing popularity of this favourite Christmas tradition.
