The judging panel is made up of experts from a variety of backgrounds. There is no benefit for any judge from the commercial success of the ‘Woman’s Hour Power List 2016’.

Emma Barnett will chair all judging meetings and discussions.

Woman’s Hour is inviting suggestions from listeners and guest contributors up to and including Friday November 4. From these suggestions, a shortlist of fifteen names of women who match the criteria will be produced for consideration by judges. Each judge will be invited to add one additional name to the shortlist. Suggestions will not constitute part of a formal nominations procedure.

The women on the shortlist will meet the following criteria. They:

- made an impact on women’s lives

- made an impact or change that is long-lasting

- exercised power at any point over the past seventy years

- don’t have to live in UK but impact must be felt here

- do not have to be living

Judges will select 7 names from the shortlist to produce the Woman’s Hour Power List 2016.

Some of the deliberation processes may be broadcast, published online or on social media, without prior consent from the judges. The Chair’s decision is final. The Woman’s Hour Power List 2016 will be published by the BBC in December 2016.
