Grizzly Bear – Ready, Able (Chopnotslop Remix)
Starting off this week’s amazing collection of new music was a remix of Grizzly Bear’s 2009 track “Ready, Able”. The remix is made by the truly brilliant director of last year’s Oscar winning filming “Moonlight,” Barry Jenkins. Barry Jenkins remixed “Ready, Able” with DJ Candlestick from the DJ collective The Chopstars. Grizzly Bear’s own Ed Droste was so excited about the track he tweeted “Can’t believe the director of my favourite movie last year Moonlight did a full on chopnotslop remix.” Barry Jenkins in turn responded, “your music means the world to me.” We’re just as excited as Ed Droste about this fantastic track!
Sufjan Stevens - Wallowa Lake Monster
Sufjan Steven’s released the beautiful single “Wallowa Lake Monster” on Tuesday and we immediately fell in love with it. It’s the first single from “The Greatest Gift Mixtape — Outtakes, Remixes, & Demos from Carrie & Lowell” which is out on 24th November via Asthmatic Kitty. The record is an accompaniment to Sufjan Stevens’ 2015 album “Carrie & Lowell.” The album is named after Sufjan Stevens’ mother and stepfather and touches on Sufjan’s difficult relationship with his mother who passed away in 2012. It features unreleased songs from album sessions, and remixes from Helado Negro, Doveman and more. We can’t wait to hear more from the album!
When Team Lauren heard that MGMT were releasing their first piece of music in 4 years we had to play it as soon as possible! “Little Dark Age” is the title track of their upcoming fourth album which is due for release in early 2018. The track was produced with Chairlift’s Patrick Wimberly and Dave Fridmann - who produced 2013’s MGMT and debut “Oracular Spectacular.” Keyboardist Ben Goldwasser said about the new album - “It feels good to make music that’s fun”.
L’Orange – Blame The Author featuring Del The Funky Homosapien
“Blame The Author” is the latest single from L’Orange third album “The Ordinary Man” out on 27th October via Mello Music Group. It features legendary L.A. rapper Del The Funky Homosapien. L’Orange is a hip hop producer from North Carolina. The album is a concept record about a magician who takes his act to dark and unknown areas in an effort to stand out from his peers. The album follows the magician as he starts to struggle with his new fame as he gains more attention.
Fever Ray – To The Moon And Back
To finish off the week Team Lauren brought you brand new music from Fever Ray. “To The Moon And Back” is out today on Rabid Records. Fever Ray is the solo guise of Karin Dreijer Andersson, one half of Swedish electronic duo the Knife. It’s the first music from Fever Ray in 8 years! “To The Moon And Back” is the follow up to Fever Ray’s self-titled album released in 2009 also on Rabid Records.
