Calling his new show "a dream come true", Jack has said that "championing new bands and indie music is a huge privilege". To kick things off, he's taken some time to share with us five of the best emerging acts around at the moment. Who knows, maybe one of them could be your new favourite band.

How Cleopatrick are putting Canada on the indie music map!

Cleopatrick - Hometown is Jack's Next Wave for 3rd September 2018.

What they sound like:
"If you like big, raucous, heavy indie rock then they’re for you. Their EP, The Boys, has six amazing tracks that tell their story about growing up. It doesn’t necessarily sound like the Arctic Monkeys’ debut album, but their storytelling and attitude is very similar."

Why they’re great:
"They have a song called Hometown that’s all about living in a small town, being the unpopular kids in your area and feeling a bit like outcasts. It’s always great when a band puts together a song like this that other people can relate to and connect with. I think that’s a really important thing about music that gets dismissed a lot."

For fans of:
Royal Blood, Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Easy Life

What they sound like:
"They’re like trip-hop infused synth-pop. I haven’t heard anything as fresh sounding as this in ages. I think they’re going to be big."

Why they’re great:
"After a summer of festival season, there’s always one new band that comes out of it as having especially impressed. Easy Life were that band this year. They’re just phenomenal live."

For fans of:
Rex Orange County.

How Another Sky are taking alternative to the next level

Another Sky - Chillers is Jack's Next Wave for the 4th September 2018.

What they sound like:
"Their music almost sounds like the band is jamming, they have that trippy energy of Everything Everything. But their lead singer Catrin has the most incredible, almost androgynous, voice. It takes you aback when you first hear it. Her voice makes their songs especially interesting."

Why they’re great:
"It’s really hard to compare their music to other artists and I think that’s one of the things that make Another Sky so exciting. Lyrically, they’re really politically engaged and motivated to empower change."

For fans of:
Everything Everything.

Stereo Honey

Stereo Honey In Session!

London-based Stereo Honey perform their first Maida Vale session for Jack Saunders.

What they sound like:
"They have the intricacies of Radiohead, but they soar. They go really, really big. Their songs tend to start out quite slow and mellow, almost soundscape-y, then they come in with some huge riffs. It really does blow you away."

Why they’re great:
"Stereo Honey are perfectionists and we had them in recently for a Maida Vale session. When you put four musical perfectionists in one room, you get the most incredible sound and results."

For fans of:
Radiohead, Foals.

APRE

APRE on the phone

APRE join Casey on the phone to speak about their new EP 'The Movement of Time'.

What they sound like:
"Their song Without Your Love is a huge summer anthem - despite the summer almost being over. They’ve started off a bit leftfield but I’ve heard some other stuff from them and they have some big pop bangers on the way."

Why they’re great:
"They remind me of when MGMT first hit the scene and made everyone really excited. Everyone got the MGMT bug and I think the same could happen with APRE. When people start to hear about them, I think they could really take off."

For fans of:
Bombay Bicycle Club, MGMT.
