Meet the a capella groups from the Northern part of the UK competing in Gareth Malone's The Naked Choir.

Choral Stimulation

From: Glasgow

Ages: 18-26

Choral Stimulation was established in 2008 as part of the University of Glasgow’s a capella society, and the group’s cheeky name was first concocted on a night out.

Six members graduated in June, so The Naked Choir was an opportunity to have one last hurrah before entering the 'real world'. This includes the only remaining founding member, Callum, who after studying to be a doctor is leaving to travel and work in New Zealand.

Flight of the Phoenix

From: Manchester

Ages: 17-18

Youngsters Flight of the Phoenix formed two days before their audition for The Naked Choir. With member Gianluca joining the group only 30 minutes before!

The group currently study at college in Salford. Wesley is the beatboxing heart behind the group and has been instrumental at bringing them all together. He is joined by girlfriend Katie and friends Gianluca, Tom, Leighton, Joe, Cathy and Kelsey.

"Counting Stars" Flight of the Phoenix

Flight of the Phoenix take on OneRepublic's 'Counting Stars'.

The Sons of Pitches

From: Birmingham

Ages: 20-24

The Sons of Pitches are best friends Joe, Joe, Joe, Josh, Jamie and Midé who all met at the University of Birmingham.

Their ‘rehearsal room’ is the three Joes' flat and they work tirelessly to perfect their pop arrangements. Preferring a quiet night in rehearsing rather than a big night out, the guys describe themselves as boys ‘you could take home to your Mum’.

YesterYear

From: Derby

Ages: 49-83

The average age of YesterYear is 67.1 years, a number brought down significantly by the joining of baby of the group ‘Biggus Rob’. The group was formed 10 years ago by friends who had met singing in a barbershop chorus.

In addition to singing, YesterYear enjoy cycling and walking. They alternate the activities each week to keep fit as well as staving off old age.
