BBC Sing! 2026 - Important Information

BBC Sing! 2026 will bring together singers and choirs from across Northern Ireland to take part in a series of musical events and programmes for BBC Radio Ulster, aiming to celebrate Northern Ireland’s vocal talents across the community through a musical theme. For 2026 our four choirs will be singing songs from the decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s!

There will be one BBC community choir at each of the four locations – Ballymena, Newry, Omagh and Newtownabbey and each programme will feature four songs.

Here’s some important information for you to consider before applying to take part:

  • The window for expressions of interest closes on Monday 26th January at 5pm.

  • All participants must be available to take part late afternoon and evening of one of the recordings below:

Ballymena – 9th March

Newry – 16th March

Omagh – 18th March

Newtownabbey – 29th March

  • If we are oversubscribed in one area/date we may ask applicants to go to another location.

  • Dates of online and in-person rehearsals will be shared in advance. Everyone taking part will be expected to attend these rehearsals. These will be evenings and possibly a weekend session in the weeks running up to the recording. Reading music isn’t essential but preferable.

  • Rehearsal schedules will be sent once choirs/singers have been selected.

  • You will be provided with the songs to be performed, along with rehearsal backing track, score and lyrics.

  • Please note that all singers must be 16 or over on 1st February 2026.

  • Singers aged 16 or 17 must be part of a choir and the main point of contact must be 18 or older. A parental consent form will be required and we cannot accept expressions of interest from solo singers aged 16 or 17.

  • Choirs/singers must make their own way to rehearsals and the recording.

  • Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 30th January 2026.

  • These are free to attend events.

  • The events will be recorded for transmission on BBC Radio Ulster at a later date and may appear on BBC social media accounts.

  • The BBC cannot reimburse individuals or choirs for any additional expenses.
