10 amazing Live Lounge debuts from 2017

Chances are you've had their Live Lounge sessions on repeat ever since they first graced your airwaves (guilty), so you'd be surprised to learn that a lot of your favourite stars set foot in Radio 1's Live Lounge for the first time this year; some as first-time solo stars, sans bandmates (we're looking at you, Harry, Niall and Camila), and others as straight-up newbies.

But, despite being beginners, these artists absolutely aced it.

Yup, from Kesha to The Killers and beyond, some of the most hashtag iconic acoustic sessions of 2017 have been served up by Live Lounge rookies. Allow us to refresh your memory and add some serious fire to your ever-growing playlist, courtesy of the below...

It's been a longtime coming and November was the month that we finally had Kesha pay the Live Lounge a visit. Performing her latest single, Learn To Let Go, and covering Marshmello's Silence, it's safe to say that this set was more than worth the wait. Educate your ears, stat.

In April 2016 Fifth Harmony descended on the Live Lounge and the result was a major rendition of Work From Home. Fast forward nine months and we welcomed Camila Cabello into the Live Lounge, alongside Machine Gun Kelly, for her first session as a solo artist.

We loved Rag'n'Bone Man's first ever Live Lounge performance so much, we invited him back for Live Lounge Month. True story.

Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury, Radio 1's Big Weekend, BBC Music Introducing Live and his first Live Lounge set: 2017 has been a preeeetty busy year for Declan McKenna and we're exhausted just thinking about it, TBH.

Ever wondered what it feels like to make your Live Lounge debut? Alma is on hand to offer up her first-hand experience:

"This is just scary; it's scary but you need to nail it. When you have a 45 minute gig you can do whatever, if you screw up a song or a word it's fine but here it's not." (Don't worry, guys: she totally nailed it. See for yourself!)

OK so technically, like Camila Cabello, Hazza has indeed stepped foot inside the Live Lounge studio before as part of One Direction. This time, however, the man with the world's most illustrious head of hair was a lone ranger, serenading us with Sign Of The Times and Fleetwood Mac's The Chain.

We've dreamed of the day The Killers took control of the studio, imagining the feels that would run through us as Brandon belted out that infamous line: "COMING OUT OF MY CAGE AND I'VE BEEN DOING JUST FINE!"

You know what? It didn't disappoint. Life made.

You take Arcade Fire, you add a youth choir, some disco balls, a hit single and a Lorde cover (Green Light, ofc!) and what do you get? A jam-packed studio and one hell of a session, is what. You are so very welcome.

Before Harry, there was Niall. Making his Live Lounge premiere three months earlier than his former bandmate, Niall Horan used the opportunity to show us something we weren't expecting: an oh so sweet rendition of Julia Michael's Issues. One word: dreamy.
