Kiran Leonard - Could She Still Draw Back?
Could She Still Draw Back is the second single to surface from Kiran’s forthcoming Derevaun Seraun LP. The record is divided into five movements for voice, piano and string, each inspired by a different piece of literature. And this particular track takes its creative cue from Eyeline, by James Joyce. Kiran says his favourite books change the way he thinks. Let’s see what this song can do for you.
Daughter – Burn It Down
The London-based trio have got their game faces on to create an original music score for the next release from the dudes behind Tomb Raider. Titled Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, singer Elan Tonra says they loved the story on first reading, because it “centres around realistic female lead characters who are emotional, intelligent, sensitive and badass in equal measure.” The entire soundtrack, entitled Music from Before the Storm, will be released at the beginning of September.
The Horrors - Something To Remember Me By
Lauren unveiled this song to the world on Wednesday. It’s the second taste of the Southend-on-Sea band’s fifth album (they’ve run out of names, and gone with V). The LP was recorded in London with producer Paul Epworth (who’s famously worked with Adele and other big beasts of the music world) and is due out later next month. It’s moody, with a euphoric twist, which might just get you moving.
Kojey Radical – After Winter
The first single taken from the Londoner’s new project In God’s Body, which is set for release early next month. Kojey speaks about tension and culture over crashing guitar riffs, floating in and out with great lyrics like “I never gave respect to wolf in sheep’s clothes.” and “I’m from the culture where we bow to greet our mothers.”
Moses Sumney – Quarrel
This beautiful track will feature on Moses’ debut album, Aromanticism, which is set to be released by Jagjaguwar next month and has been described as “an intimate concept record about lovelessness as a sonic dreamscape.” This track dials that dreaminess up to eleven, with harp, soaring vocals and none other than Thundercat on bass.
