Tectonics 2026 Artist Profile

Callie Rose Petal (ⁿᵒᵗBorges)
Callie Rose Petal is a multidisciplinary conceptual artist and semiotician, creator of theory-fiction field (Lexicomythography) comprising language art, ritual composition and software-- a critique of the exclusionary nature of academic publishing; confronting the violence of language, through the language of violence. She releases sound/noise/durational works as ⁿᵒᵗBorges. Her praxis engages distortive breakdown as compositional force, as mirror of the disabled trans body. In all her works, loss, grief, otherness and survivorhood emerge as structural generators of affect and form. 𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣. is her debut full-length under the ⁿᵒᵗBorges moniker, an art-object formed of tape, text and oil works, released under the Venalism label and mastered by Lawrence English.
lamb.
Violent textures of increasing intensity, moving from the innocent timbre of a prepared toy piano iteratively processed through pedals, through heavy drone, orchestral cacophony and glossolalic extended vocal technique, the sonic crescendo draws the artist to ever-increasing stillness in parasitic tandem, evoking the action of the tape's take up reel. The performance of the 𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣. project seeks to portray the overwriting of a survivor's pain, the censorship compounding the aftermath of systematic, sexual and domestic abuse, and the subsequent birth of creative inspiration as possession. It interrogates the impossibility of narrative ownership, through potent embodied semiosis over time.
