LESSON 7
Street credV Street credibility - or street cred - is a way of behaving and dressing that is acceptable to young people, especially those who live in cities.
Young people who have street cred are accepted and even admired by their peer group. They command the respect of other young people. They have status on the street. They are streetwise, they have plenty of street savvy, and - they're cool.
They've got to be cool. Because you can't have street cred without being cool.
In order to have street cred you've got to wear or have things that are cool. You've got to wear cool clothes, designer labels preferably. And - you've got to have a mobile.
You've got to be at the cutting edge of youth fashion. You mustn't slip. Be careful, a sad pair of trainers or an old-fashioned mobile can easily trash your street cred! And then you become a saddo.
