Her aunt and uncle dey raise her alongside dia seven children for di Syrian town of Jindayris, wey no dey far from di Turkish border.

"She still dey very young but she remind me of her papa and her sister Nawara, especially her smile. Dem die for di earthquake too," her uncle, Khalil al-Sawadi tok as e dey rock di smiling baby girl for her swing. "She no dey give us trouble at all."

On 6 February, just afta di die deadly earthquake wey hit Jindayris, Afraa mama bin go into labour and she born under di rubble of her house. She die before rescuers see dem.

Baby Afraa na di only member of her immediate family wey survive - her father, Abu Rudaina, and her four siblings all die too.

"We see say Abu Rudaina house don collapse," Khalil tok. "My wife begin dey shout: 'My brother, my brother.'"

Khalil remember well-well di moment e comot Afraa from under di rubble: "Di roof bin fall on top dem. Someone call me say dem see one woman body. As soon as I reach there, I begin dey dig, den I hear one voice. Na baby Afraa wey still dey attached to her mother. We dey determined to save her, we know say she go be di only memory of her family wey remain."

Hala gatz do DNA test. "In di beginning, na just blood test, den about a week later dem call us again. Dem take anoda sample of blood and hair from my wife. E take almost 10 days before dem get back to us."

Dem spend so much time for hospital and dem dey extra careful. "Both di civil and military police bin help us protect her," e tok. "Dem plenty. Dem stay for di room wey dey next to Afraa and dem watch her day and night."

One of di first tins Khalil and Hala do na to give her a new name – dem name her Afraa afta her mother.

"She be one of my children now," Khalil tok. "I no fit dey away from her for too long.

"I lost my home and my car, e be like say I go back square one. I no even fit afford to send my pikin dem go school."

Di family finally manage to see house to rent wia dem dey live now, but dem dey fear say dem no go fit stay dia for long. "E dey very expensive and I no know if we go fit keep am much longer as di owner need am," Khalil tok.

Pipo don offer to help dem move go UAE or UK but e don turn dem down. "Honestly, I bin dey worry say [if I go abroad] dem fit take Afraa away from us."

E remind us say "pipo dey wey dey live under worse conditions for Jindayris".
