DSS give reason why dem tell court not to transfer Nnamdi Kanu to National Hospital

Di Department of State Services (DSS) don ask di Federal High Court for Abuja to reject di application by di leader of di Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) Nnamdi Kanu, wey ask di court to transfer am from DSS custody to di National Hospital sake of urgent, life-threatening heart condition.

Dat counter-affidavit - wey our tori pesin get privilege to chook eye inside - dey deposed to by one Dr Muhamed Nasir wey be medical officer for di DSS swear to di affidavit, and e tok say e sabi di case of Nnamdi Kanu wella, and e get authority to tok about am.

Oga Nasir say dem dey give di best attention to Nnamdi Kanu life, health and safety, and e dey enjoy "maximum comfort including any food wey e demand".

'We get one of di best medical facilities for Nigeria'

"Di State Service get one of di best medical facilities for dis kontri and dem dey employ di most qualified medical personnel to take care of pipo wey dey dia custody, including Nnamdi Kanu," Dr Nasir tok for di affidavit.

E add say plenty specialists and medical professionals don dey take care of Kanu since July 2021 wey di court order im detention for di DSS facility.

Di DSS say dem dey aware say Kanu get some health challenges wey include "hypertension of about five years, wit hypertensive heart disease, symptoms suggesting gastro oesophageal reflux disease, low serum potassium level, and recurrent nosebleeds".

Dem tok say na Kanu by imsef choose di specialists and medical professionals wey bin dey attend to am, and since den im health dey stable condition.

For July 2025, according to di DSS, Kanu request for anoda lead physician, and togeda wit specialists from di DSS, e conduct ogbonge medical evaluation on top Kanu.

However, di DSS say di new lead doctor later start to make "sweeping changes" for di medications wey Kanu dey take, and dia own experts bin object to dat inside one letter wey dem write to di doctor on 19 August 2025.

Las las, di DSS say dem later get di new doctor to review im own test findings wit dia experts, and di results dey consistent wit wetin di experts bin don know about Nnamdi Kanu health.

Dr Nasir say di results no get "sufficient clinical, biomedical and biophysical reasons to support di assertion say Kanu get kidney failure or renal insufficiency" wey di new doctor dey claim.

Again, di DSS say di National Hospital no get security facilities, personnel and infrastructure wey fit guarantee di safety and security of di applicant wey be Kanu.

"I know for a fact say di applicant dey safer, more secure and psychologically beta off for di facility of di State Service dan anywia else wia e fit dey exposed to strange medical, nursing and oda staff of public hospital," Nasir tok for di affidavit.

Wetin Kanu broda bin tell court about im health

Emmanuel Kanu, di younger broda of Nnamdi Kanu, na im bin swear to di 11-paragraph affidavit to ask di court to transfer im broda to National Hospital.
