Arik Air Boeing 737-700 make emergency landing for Benin Airport on Wednesday afta di engine fail mid-air.

According to Airk Air statement, di incident hapun on Wednesday and di aircraft crew make emergency landing for Benin airport, afta dem detect say di left engine dey faulty.

Di aircraft say dem land for Benin Airport, and all passengers and crew members wey dey on board come down safely.

"Di aircraft wan land for Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa wen di incident hppun, and as precautionary measure, di crew make safe plane diversion to Benin.

"No passenger or crew injure as all 80 passengers on board come down safely.

Di airline confam say dem don make arrangement to carry all di passengers to dia final destination.

Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance for NSIB, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, tok say preliminary observations indicate significant damage to di affected engine based on one initial visual assessment.

"NSIB confam say Arik Air Boeing 737-7GL wey register as 5N-MJF, wey dey operate as domestic flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt today, experience in-flight engine anomaly and divert go Benin Airport," di statement tok.

"During di cruise phase, di crew crew detect abnormal indications on one of di engines.

"In accordance to safety rule, wit established safety procedures, di flight crew conduct precautionary engine shutdown and divert to di nearest suitable airport, Benin.

"Di aircraft land normal, and all di passengers and crew come down normally. Dem no report any injury."
