Court for Lagos, Nigeria don sentence to death one Mr Benjamin Ogudoro say e kill im wife and brother-in-law by setting dem on fire.

During di judgment on Thursday, Justice Sonaike say evidence before am show say indeed di defendant kill di deceased and deserve maximum punishment.

She say di prosecution don prove beyond reasonable doubt say di defendant commit di offense.

"E device, prepare and execute di act. Dis na wickedness of di highest order" na so di judge tok.

Di court find Benjamin Ogudoro guilty of di four counts of murder and arson.

"For count of murder Benjamin Ogudoro di sentence of di court upon you na say dem go hang you for neck till you die."

For count of arson, court sentence am to life imprisonment. Di imprisonment go commence from di date of conviction.

According to di court, di defendant no dey remorseful through out di proceedings of case.

"Di action of di defendant na di worst tin person fit do im fellow human being" na so di judge tok.

Director of public prosecution DPP Mr Martins Babajide lead di prosecution team while Barrister Ogwuagbaka represent di defendant.

Prosecution team say di marriage relationship dey toxic wey make di man plan and pour fuel for wia im wife and brother-in-law bin dey sleep and set dem ablaze and e lead to dia death.

According to di court, one of di witnesses bin tell court say di deceased body bin dey badly burnt, sotey her leg fall off from her body.

"Di second deceased Njoku Ifeanyi Joseph also die from di burns sustained during di fire, although e no die immediately, but di burns make im body to no fit supply blood to im system, and some parts of im body dey severed" na so di judge read.

Court also receive evidence say one neighbour see di defendant with fuel gallon as im dey run out from di burning house.

Anoda evidence before di court show say di second deceased person Ifeanyi bin narrate to dia neighbour how di defendant take set dem on fire, before im later die.

Edna Durueke, di 64-year-old aunty of di victims tell BBC Pidgin for 2022 say di incident happun on Thursday March 31, 2022 wen di deceased woman just return from Scotland.

She say dia house dey for Abule Ado before Trade fair area of Lagos.

"Na her first night be dat as she return and unfortunately she no see di next day," she tok.

Durueke say di husband and wife bin don settle dia quarrel before she travel abroad but di wife no know say di man still dey vex.

She say dem later discover say wetin make di man vex na afta e discover say di woman put only her name as di owner of di house wey dem dey live.

"My niece na banker wey bin dey do well for Nigeria before dem travel. Before she travel, dem bin dey live for rented apartment for Dopemu.

"She later gather money buy land for Abule Ado and den build di house. Later, she get student visa come travel go Scotland. Di visa allow her to carry her family so she carry dia four children and her husband.

"Nobody know wetin make di husband decide to remain for Nigeria. But she come later hear say di man dey try sell dia house. Unfortunately, e no fit sell am because na di woman name dey for all di documents.

"Na wetin make am vex come do wetin e do becos we no know of any oda tin apart from say dem bin don quarrel before and dem later reconcile," she tok.
