Asuu call off warning strike, ask members to resume work on Thursday
Di Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu) don call-off dia two-week warning strike wey dem bin start on October 13.
National president of di union Chris Piwuna tell tori pipo for Abuja on Wednesday say di national executive of Asuu bin get meeting all through di night and agree say make dem call of di strike.
"NEC resolve say we go give govment one-month window to conclude di ongoing renegotiation of di 2009 FGN/ASUU and fully address oda outstanding issues," e tok.
Piwuna say dem hope say govment go take advantage of di one-month period and resolve all pending mata "in order to guarantee industrial harmony and ensure stability of our academic calendar as e don dey promise".
Di Asuu national President say all members dey directed to return to work from tomorrow, Thursday, 23 October 2025.

Some of di mata wey govment neva resolve, acording to Asuu include di issue of dia promotion arrears, third-party deductions, di issue of 25-35 percent salary increase for 12 months, plus di matter of three and half months withheld salaries of di last strike wey dem bin go.
Dis strike suspension dey come just about 24 hours wen di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) give di govment four-week deadline make dem listen to and meet di demands of all labour unions for di education sector.
NLC say dem go mobilise Nigerians for nationwide industrial action if afta one month govment neva settle Asuu and all di oda tertiary education unions wey dey agitate.
For one meeting wey di NLC leadership bin get wit leaders of all di labour unions for universities on Monday for Abuja, di NLC national president Joe Ajaero tell tori pipo say dem find out say during meetings betwin govment representatives and Labour, govment go send pipo wey no get mandate, so dat anytin dem agree for di meeting no go dey implementable bicos di pipo no get any mandate.
"Henceforth, di trade unions either for di tertiary institutions or aniwia, no go enta into any meeting wit govment representatives wey no get mandate, bicos dat na wetin dey at di point of dis crisis. You go and finish negotiation, you sign agreement and den you back to renege. Never again," Ajaero tok.
Di NLC oga also tell di unions make dem join bodi togeda to make dia demands, and make dem no dey allow govment to divide dem.
