Two years ago, one young man bin decide say im go begin movement to clean di environment.

Heneba Kwadwo Sarfo and im girlfriend (wey now become im wife) start to move from place to place to clean rubbish for public places.

"Pipo bin insult us wen we bin start dis journey for 2023. We fit dey clean for di street wey pipo go tok us say di place go dirty again, so make we stop," Heneba Kwadwo Sarfo tell BBC News Pidgin.

For kontri wit unemployment rate of 13.6% by di end of 2024 according to di Ghana statistical service, to find job dey tough well well.

But Heneba Kwadwo Sarfo decide say im go put im university degree for one corner and start dis movement wey now become popular as Buzstop Boys.

Dia message simple – "di environment neva dey care weda you be doctor, teacher, whatever, if malaria catch you, you go fall sick. We gatz change our mindset".

Na so dem begin to dey organise diasef to move from one community to anoda wit dia brooms, shovels, rakes and oda tins to clean.

Wit rapid population growth and urbanisation, e dey expected say di annual waste human beings dey generate go increase by 73% to 3.88 billion tonnes for di year 2050, according to di United Nations.

For Ghana, pipo bin dey generate about 12,710 tonnes of solid waste wia only 10% dey properly disposed. Naso Buzstop Boys tok say dem go lead di advocacy for pipo to dey aware so dem fit help to reduce di pollution.

Dem bin dey drive fresh wave of civic responsibility for di kontri.

From two pipo – Buzstop Boys now get 50 active volunteers wey dem get odas wey dey join dem sometimes - togeda dem be 147 young pipo.

Dia leader Heneba Sarfo tok say, "we get teachers, military pipo, immigration, doctors and all kind pipo wey dey volunteer wit us. Evribodi for di team na volunteer; nobody dey pay us".

In two years, dem bin achieve plenty tins wey pipo now begin to accept dem as important part of di sanitation ecosystem for di kontri.

Dia initiative don get di attention of many celebrities, politicians and ordinary citizens wey begin to dey join dem whenever dem bin dey go clean streets, desilt gutters wey choke or to sweet public places for di city of Accra.

Ghana president John Mahama don support dem wit cash bifor im become president, say make dem take buy equipment to help dia work.

Dancehall musician Shatta Wale also bin donate cash to di group to buy equipment to help dem move around to clean.

Dia work bin catch di attention of some UK students wey also bin fly to di kontri to join dem on di streets to clean.

Na so each day, individuals and groups dey join for dia clean up exercises.

"We sabi say pipo no go receive us well, but we bin dey determined say even if one pesin out of thousand comments tell us say 'good job', dat alone na motivation to go di next day to continue. Today we dey hia."

Di volunteer group for May dis year bin win 'MTN Heroes of Change' award sake of dem bin use dia digital platforms to drive positive change for di community.

Di group tok say di award go encourage dem to continue to dey inspire and motivate di youth to become di change dem want see for di society and di kontri.

"We neva dey dis life by magic, we dey here sake of di earth, di environment bin give us di opportunity to live. So if we gatz protect anytin wit evritin we get, na di environment," Heneba Kwadwo Sardo explain to BBC News Pidgin.
