'Release me today or give me bail' - Kanu insist say no charges exist against am

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of di Indigenous People of Biafra, Ipob, don again insist say di terrorism trial wey im dey undergo na sham bicos di charges no dey exist.
Kanu tok dis one for court on Monday as e dey defend imsef in front of Justice James Omotosho who be di judge wey dey try di mata.
Wen di mata start, Adegboyega Awomolo wey be di lawyer for di federal govment remind di court say di six days wey di court give di defendant to start and close im defence don enta di third day and na only three days remain.
Nnamdi Kanu den tell di court say im don get time to go through di documents for im case file and e discover say no charge dey exist against am.
"E no get any extant law for dis kontri upon which di prosecution fit predicate di charges against me," Kanu tok.
"If dia is any, make my Lord read am out to me. So I no suppose enta any defense for charge wey no dey exist unda any law for Nigeria."
As e wan continue, Justice Omotosho stop am and tok say e need to educate am on procedures of di court.
Di judge tell am say for criminal trial, afta di prosecution don close dia case, na only three tins dey open for di defendant:
One na to file no case submission, den if di no case submission dey overruled, di next tin na to enta defence. But di third option be say if di defendant choose say e no get im defence, e mean say im don choose to rely on di case of di prosecution.
Afta dis explanation, Kanu still insist say dem no get any charge against am.
"Dem dey detain me fraudulent charge wey di Supreme Court don tok say e no suppose be. I dey urge my Lord to release me today or grant me bail because I no dey feel fine," Kanu tok
For im response, Awomolo say wetin Kanu tok simply mean to say im don choose to rely on di case of di prosecution. "By dis option, di mata don come to a close and my Lord suppose adjourn for judgement," e tok.
Justice Omotosho explain give Awomolo say di defendant no tok say e no get defence, wetin e tok be say di charges against am no suppose dey in di first place, and dat sef na defence.
But Omotosho appeal to Kanu again make e dey aware of di implication of im decision.
E beg Kanu to go consult lawyers wey get experience for criminal prosecution so dat dem go advise am wella on wetin to do.
"I dey take my time to explain all dis to di defendant bicos I know say na my responsibility to do so since im no longer get legal representation, and I know say God go hold me responsible if I no explain to am," Omotosho tok.
"I dey inclined, for di interest of justice, to give adjournment either for di defendant to put in im defence or adopt im position not to enter a defence."
For im part, Awomolo tell di court say im neva dey convinced why di defendant deserve di opportunity of anoda adjournment.
E say di court suppose dey bound by di earlier decision say di defendant get six days to start and close his defence. E say even if di court wan grant adjournment, e must to be within di six days so dat e no go be like say di cpourt dey vacate im own orders.
Justice Omotosho explain to Awomolo say im dey take into consideration di peculiarity of di mata bicos di defendant no be lawyer.
In conclusion, di trial judge say e go give di defendant seven days to consult knowledgeable lawyers wit experience for criminal cases.
E adjourn di mata until November 4, 5, and 6, 2025 for adoption of final written addresses if di defendant las las choose to rely on di case of di prosecution, or make e start im defense.
