Prayers - Rev Chris Rattenberry
REV: God our Father, we thank you now for Marian's life, for every memory of love and joy, for every good deed done by her and every sorrow shared with us. We thank you for her life and in her death we thank you for the rest in Christ she now knows. We thank you for giving her to us and we thank you for the glory we shall one day share together. Lord, in your mercy
ALL: Hear our prayer.
REV: O God, who brought us to birth and in whose arms we die, in our grief and shock contain and comfort us; embrace us with your love, give us hope in our confusion and grace to move forward day by day. Lord, in your mercy
ALL: Hear our prayer.
REV: Heavenly Father, whose Son Jesus Christ called us to love you with our whole heart and our neighbours as ourselves, we pray for this community, those among whom we make our homes and live our lives. Into the shock and numbness and sadness and distress of these days we pray that your light will shine to dispel the darkness and comfort our fears. Lord, in your mercy
ALL: Hear our prayer.
REV: Almighty God, you have taught us to pray for others. We pray for those who serve this town; for those who govern us that they may do so wisely and well; for those who guard the health of our people and tend the sick at home and in hospital; for the continuing gift of compassion; for Police, Ambulance and Fire Officers that they may be guided to right decisions and actions and know our support and appreciation. Lord, in your mercy
ALL: Hear our prayer.
REV: Merciful Father, your own Son declared 'Blessed are the peacemakers'. As we pray together for the gift of peace we commit ourselves to strive for peace and safety for all. Peace in our neighbourhood, peace in our homes and peace in our hearts. By the working of your Holy Spirit may we find and know that peace, now and always.
ALL: Amen

The King Of Love My Shepherd Is
The King of love my Shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow. My ransomed soul he leadeth. And where the verdant pastures grow.
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me, and on his shoulder gently laid, and home rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill, with thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me.

And so through all the length of days, Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.
Henry Williams Baker (1821-77)

Lord Of All Hopefulness

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy, Whose trust, ever child-like, No cares could destroy; Be there at our waking, And give us, we pray, Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, At the break of the day.

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith, Whose strong hands were skilled, At the plane and the lathe;

Be there at our labours, And give us, we pray, Your strength in our hearts, Lord, At the noon of the day.

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace, Your hands swift to welcome, Your arms to embrace; Be there at our homing, And give us, we pray, Your love in our hearts, Lord, At the eve of the day.

Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm, Whose voice is contentment, Whose presence is balm; Be there at our sleeping, And give us, we pray, Your peace in our hearts, Lord, At the end of the day.
