Tram depot sanding shed
Strange but true - trams come here to be filled with sand.

The reason is to help them grip to the tracks, especially if they're wet or covered with dreaded wet leaves.

So when you're walking around Nottingham and you spot piles of sand close to the tram route then you'll know the driver has been trying to get some extra grip.

Did you know?

  • There are CCTV cameras on every tram stop with footage recorded in the tram HQ control room.
  • Passenger help points are located at every stop which activate voice and video recording and provide a direct link to the control room.
  • Tram fares will be broadly in line with bus fares - partly because Nottingham City Transport is part of the consortium which will run NET.
